Ipsy November 2014-My Best Glam Bag Yet

IMG_5905

Just when I think of giving up on Ipsy, the Beauty Gods bestow upon me the best Glam Bag I’ve ever received.

November’s Ipsy them was Girl Meets Glitter.  The bag itself leaves much to be desired, but the contents more than make up for it.

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Hairspray

IMG_5909

This hairspray smells great, and does not make your hair sticky to the touch.  I’m not sure how well it will hold a curl, but it seems to be okay if you need to slick down your ponytail, or flyaways.  I don’t purchase hairspray very often, but I would definitely buy this one.

SeaRX Micro-Dermabrasion Face & Body Scrub

IMG_5917

Most times, I feel like if I’ve tried one micro-dermabrasion scrub, I’ve tried them all.  The only variation I ever notice is scent.  This scrub is finely grained with a light citrus scent.  I did not notice much that was special about this scrub, so I could take it or leave it.

Wet n Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain

IMG_5915

Although Wet n Wild is a cheap drugstore brand, they do have a select few products that are awesome, and their Balm Stain is one of those products.  I have a couple of these stains in my collection, and they are pigmented and long lasting.  If you like lip color, but don’t like leaving lipstick rings on your cup, this stain is for you.

Elizabeth Mott You’re So Fine Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

IMG_5910 IMG_5912

I have a sampled a few Elizabeth Mott products in my last year of subbing, and they have all been GREAT!  This liquid liner has a great brush, however the color is not for me.  The shade is black with silver glitter which is great for this month’s Glam Bag theme, but not so great for me to wear out and about on a daily basis.  I will however purchase this liner in plain black.  It seems to dry matte, doesn’t budge, and the brush give you enough control to do the perfect cat eye.

Edit: After writing up this post, but before publishing, when I washed my hand, the liner seemed to peel off of my hand, but didn’t run.  So it is waterproof, as long as you don’t rub your eye while in water.

Tarte Maracuja Oil

IMG_5914

THIS OIL IS EVERYTHING!  When they say add oil to oily skin to control oil, this is the oil to use.  I swear by this stuff.  I have been using Tarte Maracuja Oil on and off since this time last year, and this oil is like a miracle.  It makes my skin more supple, tones down my blemishes, gives me a healthy glow, and gives me oil control.  Everytime I stop using this oil, my skin gets out of whack, as soon as I use it again, I notice that it heals my skin beautifully.  The sample size is packaged beautifully, and it is the same deluxe size sample that Tarte packages in their holiday sets.  I promise if you try this oil, you will see a significant change overnight.

Can you see why this is the BEST Glam Bag I’ve ever received?  Did you get a good Ipsy sub this month?

Have Sweet Dreams With Tarte!-Holiday 2014 Collection

157

I’ve been scoping out all of these 2014 collections from coveted brands, because I really want to know which collections I should be saving money for.  Last year for Black Friday online, I scored some great products, and I hope to do the same this year.

Today I learned that Tarte recently released their Sweet Dreams Holiday Collection 2014.  Tarte has some really great and high quality products.

Kiss & Belle Deluxe LipSurgence Lip Set

1871

Exclusive LipSurgence™ set includes:
• 4 Deluxe LipSurgence™ Lip Tints: Dreamy (cool raspberry), Alluring (mauve), Innocent (warm nude), Dainty (pink)
• 2 Deluxe LipSurgence™ Matte Lip Tints: Eternal (pinky nude), Fancy (plum berry)
• 2 Deluxe LipSurgence™ Lip Glosses: Kiss (light pink), Belle (raspberry)

This set retails for $34 and looks like a great value considering the amount of product you get.  It’s also a great set to start with if you want to try Tarte.  I have tried the LipSurgence lip tint before and it tints the lips nicely, althought it has a tendency to dry out my lips a little throughout the day.

Chic to Cheek Deluxe Amazonian Clay Blush Set

1872

This blush set includes 4 deluxe, limited-edition blushes:
• Amour (candy pink)
• Classic (soft apricot pink)
• Prim (plum nude)
• Daydream (rosy pink)

This blush set retails for $35.  I absolutely LOVE Tarte blushes.  I have combo/oily skin, and these blushes have amazing staying power and color pay off.

Tres Chic Park Ave Princess Contour Palette

1868

The exclusive palette features:

  • Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer in Park Ave Princess™
  • Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Posh (pale pink)
  • Amazonian Clay Highlighter in Champagne Gold

Park Ave Princess Contour set retails for $34, and while I haven’t tried any of their bronzer or highlighters, I imagine they are spectacular.

Sweet Dreams Best-Sellers Collection

1869

This limited-edition set features:
• Deluxe Maracuja C-Brighter™ Eye Treatment
• Deluxe Maracuja Oil
• Deluxe Cheek Stain in Dreamer (pinky nude)

I don’t even have to think twice about this set.  Last year I also got a deluxe size Maracuja Oil in a Tarte Holiday set, and I was so surprised on how well it worked.  Maracuja Oil cleared up my blemishes, and actually reduced the amount of oil my face produced.  I used this quite a bit leading into my wedding in March to help keep my skin clear, and it worked flawlessly.  Since Maracuja Oil worked so well, I have also been wanting to try the Eye Treatment, but never got around to purchasing it, so this set would be a great opportunity to get those two awesome but expensive items.  Even thought they are deluxe sized, you don’t need a whole lot of product per use, so it should last a while.  The Sweet Dreams set retails for $19.

Ladies Who Lash

1867

The limited-edition set features:
• Limited-Edition Pearl Picture Perfect™ Eyelash Curler
• Deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-in-1 Mascara

I have not tried Tarte’s eyelash curlers, only because I am so used to finger holes on my curlers, but this one is really cute.  This eyelash set goes for $19.

Brushed With Destiny Set of 5 Bamboo Brushes and Makeup Bag

601

The limited-edition set features:
• Contourtionist™ Bamboo Cream Blush & Contour Brush
• The Balancing Act™ Bamboo Foundation Brush
• The Buffer™ Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush
• Double-Ended Bamboo Eyeshadow Brush
• Undercover Lover™ Bamboo Concealer Brush
• Limited-Edition Collector’s Brush & Makeup Bag

These are full sized brushes!!!  Ahhhh!  Squeak!  Squeal!  I’m on this set as soon as my next mid-month paycheck comes!  This set is $44 what a steal!

All Eye Need 5-Piece Skinny SmolderEYES Eyeliner Set

1874

Includes tarte’s full size skinny smolderEYES™ Amazonian clay waterproof liner in 5 best-selling shades:

  • onyx (black)
  • bronze agate (bronze)
  • smoky quartz (grey taupe)
  • peridot green (olive green)
  • plum tanzanite (dark plum)

You can pick up this eyeliner set for $27.  I think this set is the only one I might pass one, but I don’t use pencil liner.  But for those who are into pencil liner, this set is a great value.

I am going to go BROKE with all of these limited editions coming out.  Sigh!

Have an awesome weekend!

I Used a BB Primer and It Changed My Life! (Not Really, But I Did Look Good)

unnamedphoto 1

Last week I dashed over to tartecosmetics.com, as soon as I heard they were having a friends and family sale.

I had my eye on the BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer for a while, and since I had the chance to grab it at a discount, I went for it.  I purchased this in the Medium-Tan shade. My purpose was strictly to use it as a primer under foundation for a smoother/flawless application and finish.

Yesterday morning was my first time using this product. I applied it with a real techniques stippling brush but I brushed it on, I didn’t use stippling motions. This BB Primer does have a matte look, and I could most definitely wear it alone because it does set nicely with a light finish.  Since I am one of those girls who wears a full face for a bike ride, I will probably not use it alone.

The finish of this BB primer was not unlike other primers I have tried, in how it feels on my face.  It doesn’t feel heavy or like it is causing damage to my pores.

It made my skin smooth like buttah!  Because of the added pigment in the BB cream, and layering my foundation over it, it covered my blemishes really well, and I did not have to pack concealer over them at all.

I did not have a case of oiliness yesterday, and I dabbed my face out of habit and there was barely any oil on the tissue.  That was huge for me.

Just a dab'll do ya

Wax on, wax off.

Wax on, wax off.

I look forward to trying this primer out with all of my other foundations to see how they will hold up.  The tube feels somewhat small to me, so I will try to be conservative with my use.  Maybe not wear it to work, but wear it on the weekends for an extra glamorous full face look.

Tarte BB Tinted Treatment is Photoshop for the face.  I love it and will definitely buy it again after this tube runs out. I have not once had a bad experience with a Tarte Product (Maracuja oil SAVED my skin last year) and will continue to support them.

How do you feel about using primers?  Are there any Tarte Products you swear by?
