Jeffree Star Cosmetics-Velour Liquid Lipstick

When I heard Jeffree Star was going to be releasing is own cosmetics line, I went starry eyed.  I could only imagine the types of products and shades he would have, and he did not diappoint.  I have been following Jeffree Star for a while now, and have envied how gorgeous he is, so I had a hunch he wouldn’t put his name on anything less than stellar.

I ordered one shade of Jeffee Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick on Black Friday, and just received it right before Christmas.  I ordered the shade I’m Royalty, which is a gorgeous royal purple.  The shade is deep, dark and highly pigmented, but suprisingly wearable, and seems suited for a multitude of skin tones.

While the color is gorgeous and matte, the application is quite messy.  The formula is really wet, and I had to layer to get the full surface of my lips covered, but once it dried the payoff was worth the trouble.   I will probably try to find a lip pencil in a similar color to make application a little less troublesome.  I must say it is easier to apply than the OCC Lip Tars however, so if you have tried OCC don’t let it scare you out of other highly pigmented liquid lipsticks.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics makes two other Velour Liquid Lipsticks in shades Prom Night and Redrum.  Prom Night is a hot candy pink color and Redrum is a bright true red.  Would I recommend this lipstick?  Absolutely.  I am hoping for a wide range of shades in the future.  I will be a loyal Jeffree Star Cosmetics customer.

Burt’s Bees Vanilla Bean

I watched the Burt’s Buzz documentary a couple of weeks ago on Netflix, and it got me thinking about Burt’s Bees and their products. I have never really been into them before, I just always thought the prices were too high for a drugstore line.
I was at Target yesterday, and they had a display of Burt’s Bees on the endcap with the new Vanilla Bean Moisturizing Lip Balm, and said eh, I’ll try it.

And try it, I did.  The balm has no color, and glides on softly.  It doesn’t leave my lips feeling ultra greasy as some balms can, and has a nice subtle scent and flavor.  ‘The great thing about this Burt’s Bees balm is that it is 100% all natural, even the Vanilla, which is major, because most vanilla is artificial.

If you are looking for a new moisturizing lip product, Burt’s Bees Vanilla Bean Lip Balm is a great option.

You can find Burt’s Bees almost everywhere, but you can also order on Burt’, they are running a special that if you buy 4 lip balms, you can get a 5th free.

Do you like Burt’s Bees products?

E.L.F. Lip Exfoliator

IMG_4376 IMG_4379

Oh my geeeeee!  I am so excited about this inexpensive little doodad!  I have been seeing this e.l.f Lip Exfoliator around on online a lot lately, and decided I wanted to jump on the bandwagon and try it out too!  I was a model for a friends makeup course today, so last night I used this lip exfoliator as a way to prep my skin.

I am a lip biter, and a lover of a matte lip, and those two things don’t go together.  However, when I tried this lip exfoliator last night, I FELL IN LOVE!  I have tried LUSH Lip Scrubs before which are wonderful, but they are in small pots and messy!

E.L.F. Lip Exfoliator comes in a convenient lipstick form, which is great, because that means I dont have to touch the product or my lips with my fingers.  The exfoliating beads are really tough, it is almost like rubbing a pumice stone on your lips, and it is a feeling I quite liked.  All you do is rub this on your lips, wet a cotton pad and rub the scrub off of your lips, and apply gloss or balm.  My lips felt so soft and smooth after I used this product.  i highly recommend E.L.F. Lip Exfoliator!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

A few weeks ago, there was an Ipsy offer I couldn’t refuse, 5 NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams for $15!  Seeing as they are about $5 each in my local Target, I couldn’t pass up this deal.

Years ago, NYX wasn’t even a majorly desired brand.  I used to see it in the cheapie independent beauty stores and not think much of it, unless they had a nice pigment for sale.  However, they have has a resurgence as of late, which is nice because they do have some pretty great products now.

I received the lip creams just a few days after ordering and got shades: Milan, Sydney, Istanbul, Stockholm, and Antwerp.

They are swatched in the order listed above.

I actually kind of like the formula.  It is not dry like you expect most mattes to feel.  It definitely feels like a cream, but because it dries to a matte look, you will need to prep/exfoliate you lips before using it, because it will show any cracks, dry skin, and imperfections you may have.

For me, this Soft Matte Lip Cream would be best used with a lipliner, or on top of a lipstick.  I like them, they are worth the few bucks.

Do you own any of these lip creams?  Do you like the NYX brand?

Obsessive Complusive Cosmetics Unknown Pleasures-Fall 2014

I’ve already been indulging in Pumpkin Spice Lattes for the last two weeks, and I am so damn excited for Fall 2014.  Fall season starts my favorite 5 month block of the year!  I decided that I’m going to fall in line with everyone else, and see what colors I can bring to my face to reflect Fall.

I was browsing today and came across Obsessive Complusive Cosmetics Unknown Pleasures-Fall 2014 line, and they are BEA-U-TI-FUL!

The Guilty Pleasures Collection Includes 6 shades:

Vain-matte deep, dark indigo

I have my eye set on Pagan and Vain.  These two shades are so deep, rich, and beautiful.  They are dark toned, so I think I can incorporate then into an everyday look. (Obviously not office appropriate, but definitely wearable to day to day life.)

I have tried OCC lipsticks before, and while I was impressed with the pigment, I was not really impressed with the formula.  However, this can be remedied by applying corresponding lipliner, and lightly dusting the lips with powder before applying, so the lip tar doesn’t move around as much.  The formula is thick and opaque but on the sticky side when applying.

I love how each lip tar comes with its own mini brush which makes these travel friendly.  I would like to snag these two shades and make them work for me.

What Fall 2014 makeup lines are you looking forward to?

Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple: AKA My Favorite Red

Photo from

I am my most confident and radiant when I have a good red lip on.  I will wear anything from a deep burgundy to a light a bright red and feel great.

My go to used to be MAC’s Russian Red, until I received Cailyn Cosmetics Lip Balm in Big Apple in my Ipsy bag subscription months ago.

The title of this lippie is quite misleading, I would not categorize this product as a lip balm.  I imagine they call it a balm because it comes in a pot, but it is not as soft or “greasy” as a traditional balm.  Caily Lip Balm is matte on the lips and this shade is super pigmented.  Also, it comes with its own lip brush built into the packaging!

Always beaming in my red lip. If I was wearing a nude, I guarantee the smile wouldn’t be as wide.

A red lip is good for eating pizza too!

The shade of this Cailyn balm is a true red, but can be versatile depending on the shade of lip pencil you use beneath it.  I heard that some people have found this formula to be very drying, but I haven’t had any problems.  I line my lips first, apply a layer of chapstick, then add the Cailyn Lip Balm.  I usually don’t have to apply all day unless I eat something like bread that will touch my lips, or drink from a paper coffee cup.

This balm is a little pricey at $19 a pop, but there are 18 shades to choose from, you get a lot of product in the pot, and each one comes with a lip brush.  Give it a try!

Oh, Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color, How I Love Thee (And ashamed to admit it)

photo 2

Does anyone else get slightly embarrassed to admit that they like Wet n Wild products?  I do.  This is a brand that you pick up when you are like 13 years old because it’s the only thing you can afford with your allowance.

When I started out wearing makeup as a wee little one, my signature lip was Wet n Wild’s burgundy lipstick.  Yes, at 12, my signature lip was a bold burgundy.  (This was in 1997, so totally acceptable, right?)

After I became more knowledgeable about makeup, and MAC was becoming more popular, I forgot about Wet n Wild for quite a while.

I ventured into the Walgreen’s near my home a while ago and decided to check out Wet n Wild’s Fergie line, when I spotted my new favorite drugstore lipstick.  WET N WILD MEGA LAST LIP COLOR!  I purchased two shades that time: Just Peachy, and Think Pink.

The color payoff on these lippies is excellent.  What you see in the tube is the exact color you are going to get on your lips.  They are matte without being too drying, and the price point lets you experiment with colors you want to try, but aren’t quite ready to shell out big bucks for.

Wearing Ravin’ Rasin after a long day at work.

I just picked up 3 more shades during my Rite Aid haul this past weekend.  I got Wine Room, Vamp It Up, and Ravin’ Raisin.  I always wear these with a lip liner, and a swipe of Chapstick or lip balm over the top, and they last quite some time.  Yes, they kiss off, and leave ever present lip crescents on your cups, but for $1.99 I really have no complaints.

Yes I left my mark, but how else would I know which cup is mine?

Yes I left my mark, but how else would I know which cup is mine?

I will snap up all of the colors that are wearable for me.  I can’t wait to try them all.

Do you use Wet n Wild?  Do you believe there’s a stigma attached to the brand?
